Washington (BGM NEWS):- Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran has become the latest Republican to announce that he will not seek re-election.  Cochran 80, made the announcement here Monday, citing health problems as the reason for his decision. He is the

10th Republican to announce they are leaving the senate, before the Fall elections this November. Cochran currently heads the powerful appropriations committee in the senate. While there is little chance of Democrats picking up Cochran’s seat, his departure could pose some problems for the Republicans. Experts expect a flood of candidates to make themselves available in a bid to represent the State.

It is anticipated that State Senator and conservative radio host Chris McDaniel will seek to replace Cochran. McDaniel  lost to Cochran in a run off in 2014 after neither of them received a majority of votes in the primary elections that year.
