Jamaica N.Y. (BGM NEWS):-  Hundreds of Long Island Railroad passengers were left stranded at the Jamaica station during rush hour here yesterday evening. The situation was caused by a down power line west of the Hicksville station.

The incident which occurred shortly after the 6.30 p.m. peak hour resulted in a pile-up of eastbound passengers on the Huntington, Ronkonkoma, and Babylon lines. Authorities were forced to suspend services on some routes for the entire evening, while some services were terminated at the Mineola station.

It marked the second time in a month that service between the Jamaica station and Hicksville was being disrupted. An accident at the Westbury station on February 27, left 3 people died when the car in which they were traveling collided with a train. Thousands of passengers were stranded as a result.

In the latest incident, commuters were forced to scramble to find alternative modes of transportation such as bus and taxis. It was not immediately known what caused the down power line.
