BROOKLYN CHARITY RECOGNIZED FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

BROOKLYN, N. Y. October 22, 2017 (BGM NEWS) :-  A Brooklyn based non-profit, The Ex- Correctional Officers Association of Jamaica, is this year’s recipient of the Jamaica Ex-Soldiers Association community service Award.

Presentation of the award took place during the Ex-Soldiers 10 anniversary Fundraising and Awards Banquet at Antuns  Banquet Hall in Queens recently. The x-Correctional 

Officers Association won the award “for its programs which caters to the youth and the elderly,” read a citation which accompanied the award.

The Ex-Correctional Officers runs a program aimed at bringing awareness to young people about the consequences of incarceration, provides scholarships for college bound students and assists with the care of patients confined to Infirmaries in the Island of Jamaica, as well as the elderly here.

In accepting the award, Ronnie Hammick, president of the Ex – Correctional Officers noted that his association “was grateful for the recognition which has been bestowed on us with this award.” Pledging to continue to its  programs and to expand where and when it can, Hammick said the award indicates “that we are doing something tangible.”
