An estimated 20,000 fans turned out at the annual reggae music festival in Queens New York recently at which international singing sensations Michael Bolton and British
based crooner Billy Ocean were featured acts.The concert -Groovin In The Park was held at the historic Roy Wilkins Park under the threat rain that did not deter the huge turn out.Led by a cast of top flight Jamaican reggae and dance hall artiste, fans were treated to high class performances.
The reggae/dance hall group included veterans Lt.Stichie,Judy Mowatt,Luciano and Cocoa Tea all of whom earned encores from the massive audiance.In a surprise move Stephen Marley – son of the late iconic reggae artist Bob Marley made a surprise appearance to the absolute delight of the crowd. But many if not most among the thousands had obviously attended to see Ocean and
Bolton performed and they were not disappointed. Ocean who was the penultimate act in the line up held the crowd spellbound with a riveting performance even as the sang along with him.
He reeled off a number of his biggest hits including What is the color of love,Sometimes I wonder, Mystery woman and Caribbean Queen. Many time Grammy award winner Bolton took the stage to rapturous applause and immediately went into many of the hits which have made him one of music industry’s most revered and successful singer/song writer.
Among the hits he delivered to the delight of his many fans were : To love somebody, Say I love you but I lied and the Percy Sledge classic,Sitting on the Dock of the bay.
